'Stepless' portable ramps are available in a broad range of shapes and designs - one of the largest selection in the industry. The ramps are used to negotiate steps and curbs, assisting wheelchair users into cars or whenever there is a need to overcome height differences.

Find the right type:
- the type depends of the capabilities of the user - maybe of the caregiver - and depends of the available space, the load and the height difference.
- a pair of small ramps or one wide ramp? If the wheels are not in line like on 3-wheel scooters, you should use either 3 small ramps or one wide ramp,
- a narrow or wide plain ramp longer than 1,5 m can
hardly be transported in your car. choose a foldable or
telescopic ramp,
- a telescopic ramp can be adjusted to a shorter length
for lower heights. A foldable ramp will always need the
full length,
- a "Lite" ramp weighs at most only 9,5 kg and is
of course much easier to set up by the user or the
companion. The maximum length is however limited to 2,05 m
and consequently to 0,4 m heights.
Take the proper length:
- always select the longest possible ramp: the longer the ramp, the less the gradient to overcome.
- for an independent user of manual wheelchair we recommend a maximum slope of 1:7.
- for a manual wheelchair pushed by a helper or an electric wheelchair, the maximum slope should be 1:5.
Example: for 200 mm height difference, the ramp length should be 1 m (1:5) or 1,4 m (1:7).
